David Fleming is a fourth-generation Texan whose roots run deep in the San Marcos area. A graduate of Texas State University with degrees in Liberal Arts and Creative Writing, he taught English and Creative Writing at Seguin High School for more than three decades and served as pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in San Marcos for twenty-five years.
He is the author of Summertime, Border Crossings, and Days of the River Rider, and his novella “The Sun Gone Down, Darkness Be Over Me” appears in Careless Weeds: Six Texas Novellas. His writing reflects Texas culture, faith, storytelling, Big Bend National Park, and the Lower Canyons of the Rio Grande.
